SLVREC Announces New Solar Program
Monte Vista—San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative, in partnership with SLV Resource Conservation and Development, has been selected by the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) as a grant recipient for a renewable energy project. Under the program, the cooperative’s members may be eligible for rebates from GEO and SLVREC on select solar installations. The program covers two types of residential solar installations: solar domestic hot
water and solar electricity.

The solar domestic hot water program requires members to replace an existing electric water heating system with a solar water heating system. Rebates of up to $3,000 are possible. Members who install photovoltaic systems may be eligible for rebates of up to $6,000 per system. The rebate will be based upon the system’s rated watts and must be intended to provide electricity to an existing home. SLVREC members who would like to participate in the grant program are encouraged to contact SLVREC to learn more about program requirements and details. Members are encouraged to talk to the cooperative prior to installing their solar system to maximize their potential rebate and to obtain the appropriate rebate forms.

SLVREC is an electric distribution cooperative. The cooperative provides electric power to about 12,000 meters in the San Luis Valley. Founded in 1937, SLVREC does not operate for a profit. For more information on SLVREC or for more information on the solar rebate program, please
call customer service at 719-852-358 or 800-332-7634.
